Section 18
Nomination of candidate
(1) According to section 13, a person who is not disqualified can be a candidate in the election as specified or such a person can be nominated as a candidate.
(2) When nominating a candidate according to sub-section (1), there shall be one proposer and one supporter. Such proposer and supporter must be a person whose name is registered in the electoral roll of the same constituency.
(3) In the case that a person is proposed as a candidate according to sub-section (2), such candidate must also sign his approval in writing on the nomination paper.
(4) In relation to the candidate nominated by the party, the formal letter given by the officer as per sub-section (1) of section 19 on behalf of such party shall be submitted along with the nomination paper.
(5) The official under sub-section (4) shall also send a copy of the formal letter given to the candidate to the election officer.
(6) In the event that the nomination paper is filed without complying with the procedure as per sub-section (4), such candidate will not be recognized as the candidate of that party.
(7) A person can be nominated for election by a maximum of two nomination papers.
